Seniors For Safe Driving is offering an adult driver development course from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on October 8 at the Plum Community Center.

The course is designed to help drivers 55 and over understand how aging affects driving ability and to provide insight into driving on today’s roads.

The PennDOT approved course comes with a minimum 5% discount on your auto insurance for three years, as required by state law. There is a standard course for new participants and a refresher course for returning participants.

Plum Republicans to host buffet dinner on October 14

The Plum Republican Committee is hosting a buffet dinner to support local GOP Plum candidates at Pugliano’s Restaurant, 1808 Golden Mile Hwy in Plum. Dinner is October 14 at 6 p.m. and tickets are $ 40.

Guest speakers are Congressman Dan Meuser and Allegheny County GOP Chairman Sam DeMarco.

The buffet menu includes green salad, coleslaw, chicken piccata, meatballs, penne, red potatoes with parsley, green beans, coffee, and soft drinks.

Markosek meeting scheduled for October 20

A meet and greet with Representative Brandon Markosek serving the 25th Legislative District is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on October 20 at Holy Family Parish, Our Lady of Joy Church Hall, 2000 O’Block Road in Plum.

Markosek will provide some information on his professional responsibilities, the committees he sits on, the issues that concern him and information about the 25th arrondissement, which includes Monroeville and parts of Plum. After his presentation, he will be available to answer questions. Another lecturer from the Department of Aging is also invited to attend.

Refreshments will be served, and masks are strongly encouraged.

PALS organizes a day for ladies

The Plum Area Ladies Society is a service and social organization open to women in Plum, Penn Hills and surrounding communities.

Newcomers are encouraged to attend PALS meetings, which take place on the first Wednesday of each month from September through April.

For Ladies Day Out, the ladies will be celebrating Octoberfest at the Golden Goblet on October 23 at 4 p.m. For more information, call Mary Lou at 724 327-8265.

Golden Age Club of Unity

Unity Golden Age Club Inc. will meet on October 18 at noon at Unity Community Church Café, 215 Unity Trestle Road in Plum.
