RNTBCI will offer scholarships to IIT Madras students pursuing online bachelor’s degree courses

Renault Nissan Technology and Business Center India Private Limited (RNTBCI) has launched a scholarship program at the Indian Institute of Technology in Madras. The program will benefit students pursuing a BSc in Programming and Data Science from IIT Madras.

The inaugural ceremony of this scholarship took place in the presence of Debashis Neogi, Managing Director, RNTBCI, Ramakrishnan Ramanathan, Vice-President, Renault Quality and Head CSR, Prathap Haridoss, Dean (academic courses), IIT Madras and Andrew Thangaraj, coordinator , IIT Madras BSc Program.

RNTBCI, through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), will provide financial assistance to 100 students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds to pursue the BSc in Programming and Data Science at IIT Madras.

Calling attention to the importance of education, Neogi said, “The right education at the right time is crucial for any student. At RNTBCI, we encourage social engagement through our efforts in various community development initiatives through CSR activities. The importance of data science is evident in almost every aspect of life and with absolute certainty we can say that the unlimited potential of students will be harnessed at IIT Madras, turning them into an important resource for the industry.

IIT Madras introduced a Bachelor of Programming and Data Science course in 2020 as the very first online degree from an IIT, spearheading the democratization of high quality education in India. The course has been designed to cater to candidates from all educational backgrounds and located all over the world. The program is highly appealing to learners who wish to pursue careers in the highly sought-after disciplines of data science and programming.

The program is offered three times a year and attracts learners from all over the world. For admissions in the January 2022 trimester, the application window is open until 21 December 2021. Appreciating the efforts behind this scholarship program, Thangaraj said, “We have students from diverse backgrounds who are in need of financial assistance. The RNTBCI scholarships will help them achieve their goals, which would have been impossible otherwise. Through this course, students, regardless of age, academic background or socio-economic background, acquire the skills most in demand of the 21st century from IIT Madras. With multiple entry and exit options, the course provides the desired flexibility for students as well as working professionals to earn a degree from IIT Madras.

Emphasizing the importance of the program, Haridoss added, “We are now seeing a growing demand for data science and analytical skills. In the BSc program, we have seen students learning the basics of data science and professionals, with years of experience, expanding their knowledge. There is a drastic shift in everything from business operations to consumer behavior, which requires data science expertise. Analytical, data science and programming skills are now essential tools in all industries, which in turn makes our students a valuable resource. “

RNTBCI scholarships have enormous potential to initiate changes in the lives of students. This unique virtual learning program is offered in three different stages – basic level, diploma level and bachelor’s level. With over 8,700 foundation level students and over 1,100 graduate level students, this scholarship initiative will target the most eligible students in this program.
